The plant’s furnace works around the clock. The fires are extinguished only once every 10 to 20 years to make major renovations after many of its structural elements become deteriorated after years of constant wear and tear. The furnace’s temperature reaches 1,300 degrees Celsius.

Cast iron is produced on average every 40 minutes. After the molten metal is removed from the blast furnace, it is pulled out of the port using a strong jet stream. It then goes into a system of gutters, and flows through the foundry, and is poured into the foundry’s ladle.
