The Kamchatka Peninsula is one of the most remote regions of Russia. It borders the international time zone and its capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, is located 9992 km from Moscow. This is one of a handful of Russian regions that caters to almost every kind of extreme sport: from hiking and climbing to motorbiking through forests and across beaches. We tried to find out what motivates local daredevils to embark on their sporting adventures by talking to motorsport fans who cannot imagine life without speed and adrenaline.

Local motorcycle rider Igor Mulakhmetov told RBTH how he fell in love with motorsport. \ "It began with the purchase of an old off-road motorbike from Japan. Japanese hardware, even 20 years old, is very reliable and low maintenance. I’ve been riding for 5 years."

"In 2013, the first dedicated track for owners of Enduro-class motorcycles appeared in Kamchatka. Enduro involves riding over very rough terrain. Since then, owners of these motorcycles have been taking part in competitions."

"The Enduro track is littered with logs, hummocks, and other obstacles — to simulate natural terrain. We plan to hold cross-country competitions and invite riders from other regions of Russia, even from abroad."

Training on a special track, especially competitively, gives the rider (or motorsport cyclist) essential experience, which comes in very handy for riding in the forest, trips in the wild, and other kinds of extreme motorsport.

One of the most interesting places for a motorcycle trip is the Pacific coast. The terrain is so varied: you can even do jumps or just ride on the sand, right on the water's edge.
