He once dragged the shining Moon from the waters of the Siberian Yenisei River with a fishing net. This happened at the International Contemporary Arts Biennial in Krasnoyarsk. The artist’s hails from the Middle Urals, where he was born in small town Nizhniye Sergi in industrial district of not far from Yekaterinburg in 1953. The artist’s main goal is to bring poetry to the world, shine the Moon’s light on the most captivating places on the planet, draw the attention of all of the world’s people to them, and unite them around their story. In 2010, the Moon travelled to Svalbard in the Swedish Arctic. Along with an international team of scientists, it travelled near the North Pole where walruses, seals, polar bears, and even blue whales looked on in admiration. While in America, the Private Moon visited the great American poet Edgar Allen Poe whose house and museum in Baltimore has been closed for several years. While there, a miracle occurred. America was very hospitable to the Private Moon. It visited Civil War battle fields, travelled along highways in Maryland and Virginia, and is now resting with its fellow traveler at the foot of the Washington Monument.
