On March 2, Moscow named the winner of "Miss Russia 2014" as 23-year-old Yulia Alipova from Balakovo in Saratov Oblast (approximately 1,000 kilometers from Moscow).

The final part of the competition alone involved 50 girls. In the first round, they took to the stage in red dresses and wreaths of flowers.

Twenty progressed to the next round following a vote, and after a catwalk in swimsuits the number of participants was further halved. In the final, they answered questions put to them by the organizers.

The winner of the competition received a crown of white gold with diamonds and pearls. This victory means that Alipova will represent Russia in international competitions.

Yulia will also receive a cash prize of $100,000 and a car.

Yulia Alipova holds two degrees from the Moscow Energy Institute in power engineering and English translation. Prior to that, she graduated with honors from a physics and mathematics lyceum.

The "Miss Russia" nationwide pageant continues to expand its geographical scope. This year, preliminary rounds were held in 80 regions of Russia and castings were attended by more than 50,000 hopefuls.
