The Catherine Palace, a late-Baroque style palace is located in the town of Pushkin, which is in the outskirts of the former imperial capital of St Petersburg. Although the palace originated in 1717 when Empress Catherine the Great asked German architect Johann-Friedrich Braunstein to design and construct a summer residence, several extensions were carried out till 1756.
